I'm Mike, and I am a Grade 12 student in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. I've been devoted to politics since Grade 7. My vice principal then used to be an MP (He was a member of the Left Caucus of the NDP), and he was forced into retirement due to his age (now he's the mayor!) I used to be a liberal supporter, moved to the NDP, and now I guess I can call myself an "Independent Pirate Social Democrat". I currently work with several volunteer groups, including one for Type 1 Diabetes, which I've had since... well, Grade 7. Once I graduate, I plan on attending Carleton University in Ottawa to get a bachelor's degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management.
As a person who depends on the internet daily (Nay! Hourly!) I feel that net neutrality, internet privacy, and anti-throttling policies are essential to protecting the internet as the last free medium of speech. I feel that file-sharing is a service which allows independent as well as major artists be heard more, and I feel that the shameless squatting of copyright and patents have contributed to a social nanny-state. By having a Canadian Pirate Party, we can accomplish so much.
