I'm Mike Bleskie, and I am currently the PR Director of the PPCA. I am a first-year student at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. My hometown and still my primary residence is Greater Sudbury, Ontario, where I was born and raised. I've been devoted to politics since Grade 7. My vice principal at that time was former NDP MP John Rodriguez, who later served a term as mayor of Greater Sudbury. I used to be a liberal supporter, moved to the NDP, and now I guess I can call myself an "Independent Pirate Social Democrat". I currently work with several volunteer groups, including one for Type 1 Diabetes, an affliction which I've had since... well, Grade 7.
As a person who depends on the internet daily (Nay! Hourly!) I feel that net neutrality, internet privacy, and anti-throttling policies are essential to protecting the internet as the last free medium of speech. I feel that file-sharing is a service which allows independent as well as major artists be heard more, and I feel that the shameless squatting of copyright and patents have contributed to a social nanny-state. By having a Canadian Pirate Party, we can accomplish so much.
