So there are several things we need in order to register a political party:

  1. The full name of the political party
    • We have this: Pirate Party of Canada, or Parti Pirate du Canada
  2. Either the party's short-form name or the abbreviation of the party's name, if any, which will appear on election documents such as the ballot
    • Let's go with PIRATES, unless there is any objection
      • I'd suggest "Pirate", no letter S. This goes on official ballots for individual candidates. -Zblewski
      • What's the harm of having PPC or PPoC/PPdC? JSagert 14:43, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
      • PPC is too generic and would easily confuse the public. Does it mean Progressive Party of Canada? "Pirate" is a unique word in Canadian politics that identifies our party. It should be taken advantage of. Cyan 15:27, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
  3. The party's logo, if any
    • we need to come to a consensus on a logo
      • I'd think the one on the Main Page without the circle and the text would be fine. Maybe add some shading and the likes. JSagert 14:43, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
  4. The name and address of the party's leader, and a copy of the party's resolution to appoint its leader that is certified by the leader and another officer of the party
    • we need a leader and officers first
  5. The address of the party's office where records are kept and to which communications may be addressed
    • I think this is more than just an office where we can mail things to, we need to keep records there too.
  6. The names and addresses of the party's officers and their signed consent to act (minimum of three officers)
    • Need to elect our officers
  7. The name and address of the party's auditor and the auditor's signed consent to act as auditor
    • Need an auditor - some members have mentioned they know some people who can do this, we are waiting on that
      • Are we still looking for people to do it for beer and BBQ? XD JSagert 14:43, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
  8. The name and address of the party's chief agent and his or her signed consent to act as chief agent
  9. The names, addresses and signatures of 250 electors and their declarations in the prescribed form that they are members of the party and support the party's application for registration
    • we will need a post office for this, and someone to collect them
    • how can people join a party that doesn't exist yet? --Cptjack 05:00, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
    • The initial signatures becomes our initial membership. --Shadowjester 14:23, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
    • Well, we need to keep track of our members in our own way, so we need our own membership system aside from these signatures.
  10. The leader's declaration in the prescribed form that having considered all the factors relevant to determining the party's purposes, one of the party's fundamental purposes is to participate in public affairs by endorsing one or more of its members as candidates and supporting their election
    • Need a leader for this one
