From Pirate Party of Canada
[21:36] <~MikkelPaulson> I'll call the meeting to order first [21:36] <~MikkelPaulson> no, rintaran is the only one who could make it today [21:37] <~MikkelPaulson> so as you've suggested sticking to two guests to a meeting, we'll just have to do it the next two weeks [21:38] <~MikkelPaulson> both he and Ayes can do either of the other meetings, so just remains to be seen when Travis and Steve are available [21:38] <~MikkelPaulson> it'll be bloody confusing if we get two Shawns elected to Council though… [21:39] <+Zblewski> Okay, well, as long as we get this rolling. [21:39] <~MikkelPaulson> indeed [21:39] <~MikkelPaulson> if they can't make it, I guess it's their loss [21:40] <~MikkelPaulson> I'm also working on scheduling a debate as Sean has been sick and asked me to take care of it [21:40] <~MikkelPaulson> so far I have it pegged tentatively as February 1 [21:41] <+Zblewski> Okay. [21:41] <+Zblewski> Sounds like a plan. [21:42] <~MikkelPaulson> did you make it to the PPTN meeting today? [21:42] <+Zblewski> No, I was resting from my illness. [21:42] <~MikkelPaulson> understandable [21:42] <+Zblewski> What I have put together though [21:42] <~MikkelPaulson> unfortunately I haven't made it for the last couple of days either [21:42] <+Zblewski> is that they are moving forward on making PPTN's demands public [21:43] <+Zblewski> All prisoners are released [21:43] <+Zblewski> But the situation in Tunisia is still volatile [21:44] <+Zblewski> UN's coming in [21:44] <~MikkelPaulson> international observers of the election are confirmed? [21:45] <+Zblewski> No; just that the United Nations will be monitoring revolutionary and counterrevolutionary activity [21:45] <~MikkelPaulson> well I guess it's a start [21:45] <~MikkelPaulson> the big question for us is the effect Slim's appointment will have on the protests and on the Pirate Party [21:46] <+Zblewski> Well, Slim has made it know he will not be a partisan minister, and will distance himself from PPTN in his role, due to the very touchy elements of what's going on [21:47] <+Zblewski> he himself has been blockaded by protesters [21:47] <+Zblewski> Apparently he couldn't join the audio conference today because of that [21:48] <~MikkelPaulson> that's what has concerned me as well [21:48] <~MikkelPaulson> doesn't sound like PPTN will be able to contest this election anyway [21:48] <+Zblewski> Probably not [21:48] <+Zblewski> but progress in Tunisia is still ongoing [21:48] <~MikkelPaulson> indeed [21:49] <~MikkelPaulson> is there anything else that's being asked of us at the moment, aside from editing/translating? [21:49] <+Zblewski> No. [21:49] <~MikkelPaulson> okay [21:49] <~MikkelPaulson> well, we'll keep an eye on things [21:49] <~MikkelPaulson> help out where we can [21:49] <+Zblewski> Indeed. [21:49] <~MikkelPaulson> it's the Canadian thing to do :) [21:50] <+Zblewski> So, we've covered two of our agenda items, last one is the rallies [21:50] <~MikkelPaulson> indeed [21:50] <+Zblewski> Of course, you presented your report last night [21:50] <~MikkelPaulson> yup [21:51] <+Zblewski> Anything to add or reiterate? [21:51] <~MikkelPaulson> I'd like to discuss trailblazer11's suggestion as well, but it'd be a good starting point for the FC meetings with guest Directors [21:51] <~MikkelPaulson> and not so much a matter for the two of us [21:52] <~MikkelPaulson> I think we covered most of what needs to be said [21:52] <+Zblewski> Excellent. [21:52] <~MikkelPaulson> I do think we need to make sure to have a few flags in each city and send delegations to rallies organized by other groups on platform-relevant subjects [21:52] <~MikkelPaulson> good way to recruit members [21:53] <+Zblewski> Sure, as long as the logistics don't hinder us. [21:53] <~MikkelPaulson> I recruited three new prospective members just by sitting on the subway with a WikiLeaks sign on the seat next to me [21:53] <~MikkelPaulson> the logistics of what? distributing the flags? [21:54] <+Zblewski> Of sending delegations [21:55] <~MikkelPaulson> I don't see why [21:55] <~MikkelPaulson> no doubt we'll have a few members going anyway [21:55] <~MikkelPaulson> just make sure they're furnished with flags [21:55] <~MikkelPaulson> and PPCA signs [21:55] <+Zblewski> Meh, sure [21:56] <~MikkelPaulson> anyway, that's all I've got [21:56] <~MikkelPaulson> anything else to add or shall we call it a night? [21:56] <+Zblewski> PPI [21:56] <~MikkelPaulson> ah yes [21:56] <~MikkelPaulson> what's the status there? [21:56] <+Zblewski> If we join [21:57] <+Zblewski> The application should be in before approximately 11 March [21:57] <+Zblewski> PPI will convene in Friedrichshafen, and that is when they decide on member parties [21:58] <+Zblewski> The application and membership is of no cost so far, though this is decided on a yearly basis [21:58] <+Zblewski> http://int.piratenpartei.de/Membership_application [21:58] <~MikkelPaulson> okay [21:58] <+Zblewski> So, I will be organizing more formal talks before February goes too far in [21:58] <~MikkelPaulson> well, should they introduce fees, we can review it then [21:58] <+Zblewski> Yes [21:59] <+Zblewski> So, I'd prefer to have a FedCouncil and general membership vote on this [21:59] <~MikkelPaulson> definitely [21:59] <~MikkelPaulson> set it up and we'll put it to a vote in February [21:59] <+Zblewski> And we can present our application if there is approval. [22:00] <~MikkelPaulson> I'd love to have someone at the meeting in person, maybe one of the Council [22:00] <~MikkelPaulson> obviously it'd have to be on their dime of course [22:00] <~MikkelPaulson> or they could donate $1100 which we then put towards the trip [22:00] <+Zblewski> I don't have that bread >_> [22:01] <~MikkelPaulson> nope [22:01] <~MikkelPaulson> nor I imagine does anyone else in the Council [22:01] <~MikkelPaulson> but hey, you never know [22:01] <~MikkelPaulson> barring that, maybe we can convince them to schedule important meetings for times other than 4 am [22:01] <+Zblewski> I laugh at that optimism\ [22:02] <+Zblewski> Sorry [22:02] <+Zblewski> Anyways [22:02] <~MikkelPaulson> I'd like to go, but I can't afford it either, and my networking skills aren't really hot enough to make it worthwhile [22:02] <+Zblewski> that sums everything up [22:02] <~MikkelPaulson> works for me [22:02] <~MikkelPaulson> meeting adjourned
